  • Blue-flagged Carneiro beach, with its 187 metres of sand, can be found right next to the São João da Foz do Douro Fort which is also known as the Castelo de Foz (Foz Castle). Those who decide to come here for a walk, along the Esplanada do Castelo (castle promenade) have a choice of two routes. Downstream they will find the elegant and cosmopolitan neighbourhood of Foz whilst upstream is the romantically-inclined garden of Passeio Alegre.
