The Water Pavilion has been developing new activities, beside the interactive experiences:

Experimental Lab

On week days this lab Works as a complement to the school visits, as to awake interest amongst young audiences towards science through simple experimenting and observing activities, always about water, as an essential element for life over Earth.
During week-ends and holidays the general public will be able to participate in entertaining /scientific workshops to raise awareness of the importance of the water resources and the environment preservation.

The Porto Planetarium is open to the public since November 1998, belonging to the Science and Development Foundation (Fundação Ciência e Desenvolvimento-FCD) whose founders are the Porto City Council and the Porto University. The scientific management of the Porto Planetarium is the responsibility of the Porto University Centre for Astrophysics (CAUP).

The Porto Planetarium’s main mission is to awake interest amongst the population towards science, mainly as far as astronomy and associated technologies are concerned. Beside sessions, the Planetarium also provides Hands On laboratories whose experimental activity focuses on schools curricula.
The Porto Planetarium also houses exhibitions, poetry reading, book launching, among other cultural events.
CAUP promotes in the Porto Planetarium educational courses on Astronomy for teachers, astronomic observation sessions, lectures, conferences and other related activities.

Schools visiting the Porto Planetarium for one of the sessions, can also book a laboratory session. These activities work as a complement to the Science Centre sessions, exploring concepts through experimentation and equipment handling. The 45 minute-long experiences proposed in these laboratories deal with different themes around astronomy, from the construction of an spectroscope and sun watches to the method of distance measurement used in astronomy.

Workshops for children



Ocean through natural habitats of fantastic sea creatures, as the shark, the sea-horse, the clownfish, the octopus and the ray. Have you ever imagined how it feels to touch a ray? Does its skin feel soft, hard or cartilage-like? Have you ever had the opportunity to take a close look at a shark egg or a baby shark?

These experiences are part of the SEA LIFE Porto daily life. Come along and enjoy them! There are 5.600 animals of over 100 species and 1001 curiosities that we want to share with you. This summer enjoy a refreshing dive into the deep Ocean.
